Our History and Our Mission
Anton Smets grew up in the Netherlands and fondly remembers the music schools there. He wanted to build a school to serve Eau Claire based on the European music-school model where students do more than take lessons. These schools are founded on the belief that music creates social networks of good, successful children. Students have the opportunity to learn about the history of music, music appreciation, make music in collaborative settings, and go on field trips.
In 2009, Anton purchased the Eau Claire Music Lesson Center. He renamed the school and moved it to Ohm Ave. where he renovated the building and began to offer expanded services to students.
By 2015, the Smets family was ready to move on to other ventures. Long time friends of the Smetses, Nick and Sara Poss, stepped forward to continue this tradition of community-oriented music education. They plan to grow the lesson offerings of the school and create even more opportunities for students of all ages to enjoy the benefits of music making.
