Our History and Our Mission
Anton Smets grew up in the Netherlands and fondly remembers the music schools there. He has been very interested in establishing a music school in Eau Claire on that European model of local music schools where students do more than just take music lessons. These schools offer the opportunity to learn about the history of music, take appreciation classes, go on field trips, and participate in discussion groups. They are founded on the belief that music creates social networks of good, successful children.
In 2009, Anton began to make his dream a reality when he bought the Eau Claire Music Lesson Center. Then he remodeled the building on Ohm Avenue to expand the services offered to make it more like the European music schools.
