ECMS is expanding and looking for instructors!

We particularly need instructors for voice and piano, but also have demand for violin (especially Suzuki method), guitar, bass, harmonica, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, autoharp, and bagpipes. Are you locally based and interested in working one or more afternoons/evenings a week during the after school and early evening hours? Ideal candidates would be able to stay on with us for a few years or more and build their studio as ECMS continues to grow our family friendly business.

Minimum commitment to teach lessons weekly for an entire calendar school year (September - June)

SHAWN SMETS
Music Lesson Instructor

 

Shawn is a founder of the Eau Claire Music School. In addition to teaching lessons, he served for the first half-decade as the school's Program Director. From brass to banjo to jaw harp, he plays over 20 different instruments! Shawn is a fan of a wide variety of musical genres and loves to get out and enjoy Eau Claire's incredible music scene.

ELIZABETH RANZENBERGER
Music Lesson Instructor

 

Elizabeth teaches 3rd/4th grade in Hallie. Prior, she taught 1st/2nd grade along with K-4 general music in Phoenix, AZ. She began teaching piano as a freshman in high school and found it to be one of her favorite things to do - blending her love of music with her love of teaching. She has participated in a local piano competitions, church bands, choir, and nursing home entertainment.

BORA HONG-EVANS
Music Lesson Instructor

 

Bora Hong graduated from the top female music school in Seoul, South Korea in 2008. Along with performing in various musicals, TV shows, and music festivals, Bora has taught saxophone and piano to students of all ages and experience levels in academies throughout South Korea. Since moving to the Chippewa Valley, she has begun breaking into the local music scene sitting in with area groups/musicians as well as playing in the Eau Claire Municipal Band.

GREGORY MANNING
Music Lesson Instructor

 

Gregory has enjoyed extensive performance and teaching experience with all levels and styles of guitar, bass, and other plucked strings. He has played guitar for 20+ years, and has a vast background in song writing, music theory, and performance technique. Gregory is currently recording and touring with the Evergreen Grass Band as an upright bassist and vocalist, with Irie Sol as lead guitarist, and along with several solo endeavors.

OLAF LIND
Music Lesson Instructor

 

Olaf began playing violin and viola at age four with the London Suzuki Group in England. His studies continued with the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington DC. At 15, he joined the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra in Iowa, and spent the last two years of high school at the Interlochen Arts Academy. Olaf has played in the Eau Claire Chamber Orchestra, numerous string quartets, and improvisational groups spanning rock 'n' roll, blues, and jazz.

Laurie currently teaches in the Fall Creek School District, directs the Squires Band at Messiah Lutheran School, and teaches piano and flute at Immanuel Lutheran High School and College.

LUCAS FISCHER
Music Lesson Instructor

 

Primarily a guitarist, Luke also performs on bass and drums. He has performed in many projects as a studio musician at Pine Hollow Audio and several of his own projects like Rhythm Posse, AcoustiHoo, Eggplant Heroes, and Code Blue. With influences from Nine Inch Nails to Django Reinhardt, Luke blends styles in innovative ways.

COLIN CAREY

Colin has played drum set for 12 years, while in school he studied classical percussion, and played in multiple jazz ensembles. He currently plays in The Dust of Men, Rivers, and performs with the Chippewa Valley Symphony. His playing blends the dynamic touch of classical music with the rhythmic diversity of Jazz.

ADAM NUSSBAUM

Adam has played the drums for 20 years. He plays jazz, funk, R&B, rock, and gospel in several groups in the Chippewa Valley, including The Bug, Dames, The Shillelagh Lads, The Nick Foytick Band, and The Michael Rambo Project. He has also been a featured marimba soloist with the South Bend Symphony Orchestra (Indiana) and a member of the Elkhart County Symphony Orchestra (Indiana).

Music Lesson Instructor

 

Dean has been a cellist in community orchestras since high school, and has played with numerous traveling Broadway shows at the Weidner Center in Green Bay. He has backed up musicians as diverse as Smokey Robinson, Aaron Neville and Melissa Manchester. Currently, Dean is a member of the Eau Claire Chamber Orchestra.

Jamie has been teaching children music for decades, including directing musicals, classes, and private lessons. She studied voice and piano at Union University where she started a degree in vocal performance, and piano at Black Hills State University in SD. Jamie has enjoyed performing in various church choirs and musicals since 1989.

Annie has been performing since age seven in choirs, musicals, and church events. Having played the piano since 10 and attended private voice lessons since 12, Annie has enjoys working to achieve a new goals with each lesson. She has taught church choir for pre-K through 4th grade and directed musicals working with students ages 5-15.

Sharon is a semi-retired band director, having taught instrumental music for 25+ years. She has also taught jazz studies, music theory, marching band, and general music at all levels. She is an adjudicator for the Wisconsin School Music Association and has been a clarinet and saxophone coach for the WSMA State Honors Bands. Sharon is a substitute teacher in Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls and a member of the Board of Directors for the Eau Claire Chamber Orchestra.

JEFF JAWORSKI
Music Lesson Instructor

 

Jeff is a practicing musician with over ten years of teaching and performing experience. Primarily a solo classical guitar performer, he has collaborated in the past with flute, bassoon, oboe, piano, guitar, and saxophone. Jeff's main interests are fundamental and classical guitar techniques, but he also has experience in popular styles and music theory (including reading music and tablature) making him a great fit for students wishing to learn any style.

ZENON WOJCIK
Music Lesson Instructor

 

Born in Hamburg, Germany to Polish refugees, Zenon arrived in the US in 1957. He was raised in Cleveland, Ohio, as a self-described "child of the 60's". Zenon attended a catholic school where he was introduced to the accordion. He stopped playing after college, but picked it up again around the turn of the century. In 2006, he formed a klezmer band.

LUKE OTTO
Music Lesson Instructor

 

An Associate Member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, baritone Luke Otto is versed in the operatic repertory and classical art song tradition. He also performs in and directs musicals. Luke's students have found success with popular music competitions, the theatre stage, and the karaoke machine. Luke teaches classes on performing, pedagogy and auditioning with the CV Theatre Guild and he is a certified Adjudicator with the WI School Music Association.
